Oklahoma Reflects on 30th Anniversary of Oklahoma City Bombing

This year is the 30th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. The annual remembrance Ceremony was held inside due to the weather. The Doors Opened at First Church at 8 A.M. with the preshow music provided by the Acappella Federation. There was a bagpipe procession at the start of the event with the Oklahoma Fire Pipes and Drums leading.
Following the bagpipes, Dr. Susan Chambers opened the ceremony. Dr. Chambers worked in the medical tents when the bombing happened and is now the chairman of the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum.
Other speeches included former Oklahoma City Mayor Ron Norick, who read the Memorial Mission Statement and led the 168 seconds of silence. Former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating, current Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, Governor Kevin Stitt and U.S. Senator James Lankford also spoke at the ceremony.
The final speech was given by former President Bill Clinton. Clinton was president at the time of the bombing. He has appeared at previous ceremonies. His address echoed other comments about the importance of the Oklahoma Standard that became world famous in the days following the attack.
At the end of the ceremony, guests were allowed to take home seedlings from the Survivor Tree.
